The American Constitution firmly establishes term limits for the office of the President. Article II, Section I, Clause 5 requires that a person can be elected to the presidency only a maximum of two times. This constraint was firstenacted following the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who served an unprecedented number of terms. The 22nd Amen
